My paintings currently is primarily focused on the African American experience.  I want to push against the single narrative I strive to illustrate multiple aspects of life from both a critical and celebratory perspective.  I  employ the human figure, bold colors, history and current events in my art.

 

In photogrpahy, I  like to capture the beauty and tragedy of the human condition through the lens.  I incorporate some of thoses images in my paintings and graphic design practices, most of the product images are taken with a commercial slant.  I bring my expertise as a designer into product photograpy, as I frame the objects considering maximum customer appeal. When I focus the lens on people, I am looking for something that is relatable to the viewer eitheer through experince or a deeper spirirtual connection that eminates from their eyes. I also like to create engaging photomanipulations.

 

When I draw I am always trying to solve a problem or make a statement.  I am either attempting to improve upon my representation skills or address something more complex than can be acheived in a snapshot.  Drawing is akin to writing to me and every object has as much value in the compositioin as any word placed in an essay.
